William Edmund Image FRCS DL JP (18 May 1807 – 26 September 1903)[1][2] was an English surgeon and early philatelist.
Thomas Image, Rector and Patron of Whepstead, Suffolk and a notable geologist.
He took his medical degree in France where he lived in the house of the French surgeon M. Dupuytren.
On returning to England he started work as a General Practitioner in Bury St. Edmunds, eventually becoming an acknowledged expert in forensic medicine and poisoning cases.
[4] He resided at Herringswell House, near Mildenhall, where he died in 1903, aged 96 years.
