Willie Meagher

William Joseph Meagher (30 August 1895 – 19 June 1957) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Kilkenny senior team.

[1] Meagher made his first appearance for the team during the 1918 championship and was a regular player for much of the next decade.

Meagher enjoyed a successful club career with Tullaroan, winning four county championship medals.

[2] Meagher was a member of a famous Gaelic games dynasty.

His father, Henry J. Meagher, was said to have attended the inaugural meeting of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1884.
