Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska

By the treaty of 1846 with the United States, the Ho-Chunk Nation was assigned to a vast wilderness area in central Minnesota Territory, the Long Prairie Reservation.

[5] More than twenty years later, the Ho-Chunk were forced to move from that area to the Winnebago Reservation, established by treaty on 8 March 1865.
