Winters Independent School District

[1] In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.

[3] On April 10, 1930, the first Texas chapter for the national organization of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Club was started in Winters.

[4] In July 2024, the ACLU of Texas sent Winters Independent School District a letter, alleging that the district's 2023-2024 dress and grooming code appeared to violate the Texas CROWN Act, a state law which prohibits racial discrimination based on hair texture or styles, and asking the district to revise its policies for the 2024-2025 school year.

[5][6] The Winters Independent School District and WHS Alumni Association established the "Winters High School Distinguished Alumnus Award" in 2013 to recognize former graduates who have accomplished extraordinary achievements in their life's work.

They must have graduated at least 10 years prior to year in which nominated, should have been a leader in his/her field or made a significant contribution, and/or brought exceptional distinction to the individual or their community.
