Wolfgang Heimbach

Wolfgang Heimbach (1615 – 1678) was a North German Baroque painter, mostly active in Denmark.

As court painter, he was temporarily in the services of Anton Günter, Count of Oldenburg but remained in the years 1640 to 1651 in Italy.

[1] From 1670 until his death he was in the service of the Prince Bishop of Münster, Christoph Bernhard von Galen.

Heimbach's most important work is his painting of the homage to Frederik III in 1660.

The artist has put himself in the foreground next to the inscription section; he waves his hat triumphantly.
