I-96 passes through the southern part of the township with an exit about one mile east of Marne at junction with M-11, another at Marne, and another at the eastern edge of Coopersville.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 3,286 people, 1,037 households, and 826 families residing in the township.

There were 1,082 housing units at an average density of 29.9 per square mile (11.5/km2).

There were 1,037 households, out of which 38.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.1% were married couples living together, 6.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% were non-families.
