Ylva Karlsson (born 3 February 1978) is a Swedish children's writer.
She made her literary debut at the age of 20 with the novel Tova, for which she received the Slangbellan prize.
She wrote the book as an 18-year-old, and it depicts a 17-year-old girl's problem-filled summer, where she is let down by her mother and abandoned by her boyfriend.
The trilogy about the eight-year-old Malin (2001-2003) is everyday realism, but she has also written art adventures and fantasy books.
She was nominated to the Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature Prize in 2021.
