Yuri Doykov was born on July 20, 1955, in Arkhangelsk, at that time in the USSR.
Since 1991, he has worked as an independent scholar in Arkhangelsk, specializing in Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia.
He publishes a newsletter, Yuri Doykov's Daily, which started in 2011.
