He finished second among team defensemen in scoring with seven goals and 20 assists in 47 games, despite missing time in November due to injury.

[9] On March 29, 2016, Werenski signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets, beginning with the 2016–17 season.
