Her grandmother was a piano teacher at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Mexico); her grandfather, Jesús Silva, was a guitarist, a colleague of maestro Andrés Segovia and with a scholarship named in her honor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States.
