Álvaro García Ortiz (born 16 December 1967) is a Spanish jurist and prosecutor who has worked for the Supreme Court of Spain.
[1] García Ortiz was born on 16 December 1967 in Lumbrales[2] and graduated with a degree in law from the University of Valladolid,[3] then he began working for the Mahón prosecutor's office in 1998.
On 19 July 2022, after Dolores Delgado announced she would resign for health reasons,[16] it was revealed that García Ortiz would be the government's nominee to replace her.
[20][21] After Pedro Sánchez formed his third government, the Council of Ministers asked that García Ortiz's suitability for office was reviewed.
[24] Since 16 October 2024, García Ortiz has been investigated by the Supreme Court for suspicions that he or his office could have leaked to the press private emails related to a tax fraud case of the boyfriend of the president of the Community of Madrid.
