Primary elections were held on September 6, 1910.

Schmitz was the first Democrat since George W. Peck in 1892 to carry Kenosha County.

This was also the first time since 1875 that Kenosha County did not vote for the winning candidate.

Social Democratic candidate William A. Jacobs received 37.93% of the vote in Milwaukee County and won the county over McGovern; this was the best performance ever by a Socialist gubernatorial candidate in Milwaukee County.
