The 1990 Northern Iowa Panthers football team represented the University of Northern Iowa as a member of the Gateway Football Conference (GFC) during the 1990 NCAA Division I-AA football season.
Led by second-year head coach Terry Allen, the Panthers compiled an overall record of 8–4, with a mark of 5–1 in conference play, and finished as GFC co-champion.
Northern Iowa advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA First Round and were defeated by Boise State.
