The 2008–09 UMKC Kangaroos men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri–Kansas City during the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.

The Kangaroos played most their home games off-campus, at Municipal Auditorium (with two at Kemper Arena), plus one on-campus at Swinney Recreation Center in Kansas City, Missouri, as a member of The Summit League.

The Kangaroos finished the 2007–08 season with a record of 9–21 overall, 4–12 in The Summit League to finish in eight place.
