The tournament was held from 24 to 30 July 2016 in Cork, Ireland at the Mardyke Arena.
[1] Netherlands won the tournament for the seventh time after defeating Germany 2–0 in the final.
The top two teams advanced to the semifinals to determine the winner in a knockout system.
The last two teams were relegated to the EuroHockey Youth Championship II.
As per statistical convention in field hockey, matches decided in extra time are counted as wins and losses, while matches decided by penalty shoot-outs are counted as draws.
