The 2024 Rio de Janeiro municipal election took place on 6 October 2024.
The incumbent mayor, Eduardo Paes of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), was reelected with his second term to begin on 1 January 2025 and end on 31 December 2028.
[1][2][3] The last mayoral election in Rio de Janeiro, held in 2020, resulted in a largest victory of Eduardo Paes (DEM) in the second round.
Crivella attempted his own re-election and lost by a difference of 28 points.
[4] An opinion poll conducted by Paraná Pesquisas in November 2023 asked Rio's citizens what they thought of Paes' government.
