They will be led by fifth-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns will play home games at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

The Longhorns went on to play in the SEC Championship, losing to Georgia 19-22 in overtime.

Texas was selected as one of the 12 teams to play in the College Football Playoff.
