[4][5][6] The Abia State Polytechnic, Aba was established by edit No.8 of 1994 which has a retrospective effect from October 1992.
The initial intake comprises students taking various certificate programmes.
[7] On November 7, 2024, Abia State Polytechnic was renamed to Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, to honour the legacy of the first Executive Governor of Abia State, the late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
