[3] Aire-la-Ville has an area, as of 2009[update], of 2.93 square kilometers (1.13 sq mi).

Of the rest of the land, 0.58 km2 (0.22 sq mi) or 19.8% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.41 km2 (0.16 sq mi) or 14.0% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is unproductive land.

[4] The village is located on the left bank of the Rhône, at the same position as the Verbois dam.

The Cheneviers incineration plant is located within the community limits.

The municipality of Aire-la-Ville consists of the sub-sections or villages of Treulaz, Cheneviers, Vieux-Four and La Fin.

[9] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (625 or 84.9%), with English being second most common (27 or 3.7%) and German being third (25 or 3.4%).

The greatest number of single family homes (45) were built between 1971 and 1980.

[9] The historical population is given in the following chart:[3][13] In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the SVP which received 25.22% of the vote.

In the federal election, a total of 333 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 55.8%.

[14] In the 2009 Grand Conseil election, there were a total of 656 registered voters of which 310 (47.3%) voted.

The most popular party in the municipality for this election was the MCG with 17.0% of the ballots.

[15] For the 2009 Conseil d'État election, there were a total of 660 registered voters of which 383 (58.0%) voted.

[9] There were 373 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 42.1% of the workforce.

In the tertiary sector; 5 or 26.3% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 8 or 42.1% were in a hotel or restaurant, 1 was in the information industry, 5 or 26.3% were in education.

[9] From the 2000 census[update], 357 or 48.5% were Roman Catholic, while 142 or 19.3% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.

The education system in the Canton of Geneva allows young children to attend two years of non-obligatory Kindergarten.

The canton's school system provides two years of non-mandatory kindergarten and requires students to attend six years of primary school, with some of the children attending smaller, specialized classes.

There were 32 lower secondary students who attended school in Aire-la-Ville.
