George Akilagpa Sawyerr, FGA (born 24 March 1939) is a Ghanaian academic.

He received his doctorate in Juridical Science (JSD) from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972.

His interest are mostly focused on legal matters and higher education in Africa.

Some of his books include: In 2018 he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Letters (D. Litt, Honoris Causa) degree by the University of Cape Coast.
