Alabama National Guard

The National Guard is charged with dual federal and state missions.

When National Guard troops are called to federal service, the President serves as Commander-in-Chief.

"[1] Technically the Alabama National Guard is currently under federal service as Executive Order 11111, which federalized the guard and was issued in response to the Stand in the Schoolhouse Door in 1963, was never revoked.

The same respective ranks and insignia are used and National Guardsmen are eligible to receive all United States military awards.

The Alabama National Guard has a State Partnership Program relationship with Romania.
