Albanosmilus is an extinct genus of the family Barbourofelidae.
[1] It was previously thought to belong to the false sabre-toothed cat family Nimravidae.
[2] It lived during Middle and Upper Miocene in Europe, Asia, and North America.
[3] Albanosmilus was at one time considered a synonym of Sansanosmilus, but by 2013 it was considered a valid genus with two species: Albanosmilus jourdani, the type species (with synonyms Albanosmilus vallesiensis, Barbourofelis vallesiensis) and Albanosmilus whitfordi (with synonyms Barbourofelis whitfordi).
