Aldrich, Minnesota

Aldrich (/ˈɔːldrɪtʃ/ AWL-dritch) is a city in Wadena County, Minnesota, United States, along the Partridge River.

[4] The small community holds the distinction as the first permanent settlement in Wadena County and the first to establish a post office.

[5] The city was named for Cyrus Aldrich (1808–1871), a state legislator.

[6] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.47 square miles (1.22 km2), all of it land.

There were no families and 13.2% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.

Amtrak’s Empire Builder, which operates between Seattle/Portland and Chicago, passes through the town on BNSF tracks, but makes no stop.

The nearest station is located in Staples, 7 miles (11 km) to the east.
