[5] On Friday June 16, 2023, Alfa Nero was sold to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt for $67.6 million during an auction by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, after it had been abandoned there following the imposition of economic sanctions as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
[11] In early September 2023, it was reported that Schmidt backed out of the purchase due to lawsuits over title to the yacht.
[7] Alfa Nero can accommodate 12 guests and up to 26 crew, and has over 4,000 square feet (370 m2) of living space.
The yacht features a 12-by-38-foot (3.7 m × 11.6 m) pool on the aft deck that can, through a hydraulic system, transform into a dance floor or a helipad.
[12] The master suite occupies the entire forward aspect of the upper deck, which is private and self-contained.
