Amastra hutchinsonii is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Amastridae.
It consists of 7 whorls that are flatly convex, coarsely and irregularly striated longitudinally, without any marginations.
The shell is covered with an earthy brown epidermis, with the apex being darker in color.
In Mauian specimens, the shell is typically rimate, rarely imperforate as previously described by W.H.
The embryonic whorls are exquisitely costellate, with the riblets following the usual curved pattern.
