She was sister of king Béla IV and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.
Her grandmother was Agnes of Antioch from House of Châtillon, the daughter of Raynald of Châtillon [1][better source needed] In January 1221 she married Tsar Ivan Asen II of Bulgaria as his second wife.
Her father was forced to agree to the marriage to effect his release from Bulgaria, where he had been captured on his return from Crusade in late 1218.
