Annie Gulvin

She was one of the first female students at the previously all-male Swanley Horticultural College, and graduated top of her class.

[1] The Royal Horticultural Society published rankings of its examinees, and in 1895 Gulvin placed first and won their Silver Gilt Medal.

[3][4] Gulvin and Hutchins were then joined by Gertrude Cope and Eleanor Morland.

[5] After a year working at Kew, Gulvin moved to the estate of Iscoed in Carmarthenshire, Wales[1] in 1897 as head gardener.

[1] Gulvin married Alan Turner, a solicitor, in 1900, and ceased to practise as a gardener.
