Newman played for the Los Angeles Rams from 1988 to 1994, New Orleans Saints from 1995 to 1997, and the Oakland Raiders from 1998 to 1999.
[1] Out of high school he had the opportunity to play Major League Baseball, but chose instead to attend the University of Oregon.
He worked alongside Joe Giansante color commentating on Oregon Duck football games until the conference expanded to the Pac-12 and launched their own sports network.
He also helps coach the Central Catholic High School football team.
