Based in the Myanmar–Thailand border town of Mae Sot, Thailand, the organization provides a safe space for creative expression and support for artists who have been forced to leave Myanmar.

The organization's vision is to create a sustainable and inclusive community that empowers artists to thrive and contribute to democratic movements in Myanmar.

[7][8][9] Artist's Shelter has established partnerships with various organizations locally, such as AJAR,[10] AAPP, Spring University Myanmar[11] and Burma Academy.
