Atkinsons Warren

Atkinsons Warren is a large area of woodland in northwest Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England.

It is a Local Nature Reserve,[1][2][3] and includes a meadow grazed by rabbits, rough grassland, developing scrub, and birch and oak woodland.

The Warren can be publicly accessed on foot or by car, and is used for walking dogs and riding bicycles.

[4] The name comes from Walter Atkinson, gamekeeper for the Sheffield family of Normanby Hall.

The ruins of Atkinson's home remain in the reserve to this day on a popular path for dogwalkers.

View over uneven country from high ground. In the nearground is some Gorse, inevitably in flower. Down the slope in the midground are the crowns of many trees, in shades of light green. Hazily seen in the far distance the plain between Scunthorpe and Doncaster appears dark blue.
