Augusta is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States.
The Augusta AVA was recognized by the federal government in 1980 as the first designated American Viticultural Area in the United States, beating out Napa Valley.

There are stories of another man who named the town after his wife, although those theories cannot be proven.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.6% White, 1.2% Native American, 0.4% Asian, and 0.8% from two or more races.
34.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
None of the families and 2.3% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 10.9% of those over 64.
