From 2022 to 2024, the team was based in Riga and played in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The team was founded as Sports Club Prometey in September 2018, by Volodymyr Dubynsky and Pavlo Chukhno.

The following season, the club enrolled for the FIBA Europe Cup and made their European debut.

[4] The following season, Prometey made its debut at the European stage when it played in the Qualifying Rounds of the 2021–22 Basketball Champions League.

[6] In June 2022, Prometey was included in the list of teams participating in the 2022–23 EuroCup Basketball.
