He is currently a member of the University of Indonesia (UI) board of trustees for the 2024-2029 period and the secretary general of the Ministry of Culture since 2024.
[2] After completing his postdoctoral research, Bambang was appointed as the executive director of UI's Center for Japanese Studies.
[3] Bambang was appointed as the dean of humanities faculty of the University of Indonesia in April 2008 by UI rector Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri.
The speech also highlighted the need for cultural policies to build local wisdom and resist the negative impacts of globalization.
Bambang denied these allegations, pointing out his frequent invitations to speak at events organized by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and other reputable institutions as evidence of his credibility.
