This station has a Spring 2024 construction start with opening planned for Summer/Autumn 2025.
The station was originally part of the Paisley and Barrhead District Railway.

Recently, with housing development opening up nearby, the local council have confirmed they will be opening a station called Balgray railway station[4] at a similar location to serve both new developments at Barrhead South and also the Dams to Darnley Country Park.
