It is located on the Yorkshire Coast Line and is operated by Northern who provide all passenger train services.

It is located on the single track section between Hunmanby and Bridlington and is the nearest railway station to the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs (1.5 miles (2.4 km) away to the east).

Goods sidings and weighbridge were located immediately north of the station.
