The racial makeup of the township was 96.21% White, 0.19% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.72% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races.

There were 1,441 households, out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families.

22.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
