Buechel is a former census-designated place in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States.
It is named after John Buechel, a Swiss carpenter and tavern owner who established a post office at his White Cottage tavern in 1883.
[1] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.5 km2 (2.5 mi2), all land.
The racial makeup of the CDP was 76.43% White, 17.86% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 1.42% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.31% from other races, and 1.73% from two or more races.
[3] Of the 3,320 households 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.9% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.0% were non-families.
