Byneset Municipality

Byneset Municipality was located along an arm of the Trondheimsfjord and it was separated from the city of Trondheim by the Bymarka recreation area.

The largest village in Byneset was Spongdal which was the administrative centre of the municipality.

[10] During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee.

At the time of the municipal dissolution, it was part of the Byneset prestegjeld and the Heimdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros.

[8] The municipality was located on the Byneset peninsula, just west of the city of Trondheim.

The municipal council (Herredsstyre) of Byneset was made up of 17 representatives that were elected to four year terms.
