Cale is an unincorporated community in Mitcheltree Township, Martin County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.
When John Walsh built a railroad through the area in the 1870s, some people moved from the original settlement to the new location to be closer to the railway.
By the mid-1880s the population had increased considerably and the new location became known simply as Cale by 1889.
[citation needed] A post office called Cale was established in 1884, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908.
