Cantiague Park was opened by Nassau County to the public in 1961 in response to a growing population.
[2] Several of the facilities at the park were designed by Valley Stream-based Frederic P. Wiedersum Associates.
[4] The park ultimately remains owned by Nassau County.
[2] Cantiague Park is home to an indoor-skating-rink that has been used in the past by both professionals and "regular" people.
Olympic gold medalist Nancy Kerrigan performed there in 2004 and the New York Islanders practiced in this facility from 1979 to 1992.
