Carol H. Beck

Carol H. Beck (1859-1908) was an American historical painter, critic and writer.

She was a student the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Schools from 1879 to 1884, where she studied under Thomas Eakins.

[1] She received PAFA's 1899 Mary Smith Prize for best painting by a Philadelphia woman artist.

Beck edited the Catalogue of the William P. Wilstach Collection of Paintings in Memorial Hall, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia.

On an order from Andrew Carnegie, she painted William Penn in armor for the Pennsylvania Society in New York, and several portraits for Skibo Castle.
