At the census of 2000, there were 1,074 people, 449 households, and 347 families residing in the township.

There were 897 housing units at an average density of 14.2 per square mile (5.5/km2).

The racial makeup of the township was 94.13% White, 0.09% African American, 2.98% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 2.14% from two or more races.
