Cary Blanchard

Robert Cary Blanchard (November 5, 1968 – September 6, 2016) was an American football placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.

As a sophomore, he made 11-of-12 field goals and set a school, conference and NCAA season-record by hitting all 67 of his extra point attempts.

As a senior, he made 14-of-19 field goal attempts, including a career-long tying 52-yarder against the University of Northern Iowa.

[1] Blanchard was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after the 1991 NFL draft on April 29.

He was released before the start of the season on August 5, after not being able to pass incumbent Ken Willis on the depth chart.

[2] On September 29, 1992, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets, to replace Jason Staurovsky.

His most memorable kick came in that year's playoff run, making a third quarter 30-yard field goal on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs, to seal the Colts 10-7 victory.

[10] On October 20, 1999, he was signed by the New York Giants 6 games into the season, to replace an injured Brad Daluiso.

After football, he was the operations supervisor for the Deer Creek School districts in Edmond, Oklahoma.
