The team is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division III.

From 1960 until 2011, Centenary competed at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the Trans America Athletic Conference (now Atlantic Sun Conference) and most recently the Summit League before re-classifying to Division III.

Centenary did not make an appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in its over 50 years at the D-I level.
