Charles Andrew Muecke

Born in New York City, New York, Muecke received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William & Mary in 1941 and a Bachelor of Laws from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 1953.

Because of his excellent German, he was tapped by the Office of Strategic Services (the precursor to the Central Intelligence Agency) to go to France, where he worked with German defectors to return to Germany to spy on the Nazi regime.

Muecke was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 29, 1964, and received his commission on October 1, 1964.

He served as Chief Judge from 1979 to 1984, assuming senior status on November 30, 1984.

He continued to serve in that capacity until his death on September 21, 2007, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
