Chernoyarsky District (Russian: Черноя́рский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the eleven in Astrakhan Oblast, Russia.
The area of the district is 4,217.99 square kilometers (1,628.58 sq mi).
[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Chyorny Yar.
[4] The district was first established in July 1928 by merging Chernoyarskaya Volost and a part of Kamennoyarskaya Volost of Stalingrad Governorate with three rural localities in Yenotayevsky District.
[2] In 1931, the district was transferred to Lower Volga Krai but was moved back to Astrakhan Oblast in October 1947.
