She is a retired professor of Applied Anthropology at University of Ghana,[1] and a senior member at Wolfson College, Cambridge.
[2] Oppong obtained her bachelor's, Master's, and doctorate degrees in Anthropology from the University of Cambridge.
[3] Oppong has taught at the Institute of African Studies for over twenty five (25) years.
[3] Oppong's research work have been in the fields of Gender, Development, Population, and Family.
Some of her works include; Oppong was awarded a plaque by the University of Ghana for her over twenty five years services to the university's Institute of African Studies, and her contributions to the development of research and teaching at the Institute.
