Its flagship location is in Hudson Square, New York City, with locations in Atlanta; Boston; Chicago;[1] Nashville; Pittsburgh, Philadelphia; St. Louis; and Washington D.C.[2] Each City Winery location is a fully functioning urban winery, importing grapes from all over the world to create unique locally made wines.
City Winery was founded in 2008 by chief executive officer Michael Dorf.

[10] In 2018, the company planned to open its first venue outside a major city, at a former textile mill in Montgomery, New York.
[11] A location at New York City's Grand Central Terminal was leased in 2022 and closed in 2024.
