Columbia City Council

Each member represents one of the city's six wards, except the mayor who is elected by city-wide vote.

[1] In addition to lawmaking, the main duties of the council include hiring a city manager and appointing citizens to boards and commissions; of which there are 57 as of 2019.

[3] The council meets in Columbia's City Hall, also known as the Daniel Boone Building.

Incumbent Mayor Brian Treece announced he would not seek re-election for a third term.

[4] Columbia Sustainability Manager Barbara Buffaloe became mayor, receiving 42.9% of the vote against Randy Minchew, David Seamon and two minor candidates.
