Cypherotylus californicus

It is recorded from Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Kansas in the United States, and the Mexican state of Sonora.

The adult beetles typically are about 1.4–1.8 cm (0.6–0.7 in) long.

[2] The beetle starts its life in the spring when it hatches from an egg, and pupates in the summer.

It mates and lays eggs in the late summer and early fall.

It feeds on fungi that it finds growing on logs and trees.
